February 26, 2013 - Like a blockbuster movie on awards night, the 2013 Nissan Altima has received yet another distinguished accolade. The acclaimed title of "Best New Model" vehicle in the $25,000-$30,000 price range was presented to the new Altima by Kiplinger's Personal Finance.
Kiplinger is a leader in forecasting and advising consumers with unbiased recommendations. Every year they review hundreds of vehicles and rank them based on safety, performance, spaciousness, driving impressions, and price and overall value. Twenty-two vehicles will be featured in the March issue of Kiplinger's Personal Finance Magazine, which will be available in newsstands and online at http://www.kiplinger.com on February 5, 2013. The redesigned Altima was honored "Best New Model In Class," which is one of their highest and most prestigious categories.
"The Altima has acquired fame and popularity," said Ken Mills, General Manager of Fort Wayne Nissan. "It continues to get high reviews for innovation and affordability, making it the star of the Nissan brand."
Also named "The Ruedas ESPN Car of the Year" at the Miami International Auto Show, and "Top Safety Pick Plus" by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety for excellent performance in all passenger safety tests, the Altima's dynamic achievements and innovation have clearly made it the all-around winner for a mid-size sedan.
"This fifth-generation Altima is clearly the leader in its class," continued Mills. "Nissan totally re-designed this vehicle, giving it incredible performance, innovative features, and the highest safety and fuel economy ratings — making this sporty, yet practical, family sedan a champion. No wonder it became so famous."
The sculpted body of the new Altima is more aerodynamic, featuring a brand-new grill, a seamless bumper, projected-type headlights, and deep chrome highlighting accents. Interior innovations, such as the impressive "zero-gravity" front seats inspired by NASA, offer passengers premium comfort.
Technological safety improvements include the new Advanced Drive-Assist, standard in every Altima, which displays navigation, text messaging, and audio data on a four-inch color monitor, allowing drivers to keep their eyes on the road longer. Bluetooth, the hands-free calling and audio streaming technology, along with keyless entry and keyless ignition, are popular standard items. Other technological improvements available enhance driving safety; these include Blind Spot Warning, Lane Departure Warning, Moving Object Detection, Rearview back-up camera, real-time point of interest, Google's search and send-to-car tire pressure monitoring, and the Active Understeer Control, which gives the driver extra control during all weather conditions.
The 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine, providing 182 horsepower, combined with the next-generation Xtronic CVT (Continuously Variable Transmission), enables the new Altima to maintain fuel efficiency while achieving incredible power. When paired with its excellent aerodynamics, it promises up to 38 highway miles-per-gallon fuel economy. In fact, the Altima was noted best-in-segment for fuel economy compared against other gasoline-equipped mid-size sedans.
The all-new 2013 Altima has earned the right to boast about its innovation, style, fuel economy, and overall performance. The Kiplinger's recognition not only recognizes the Altima for "Best New Model In Class" but also raises the bar for years to come.
